There are two events coming up that may be of interest: one is the debate ‘Goodbye, supervision, hello obstetric nurse’ at Airedale Hospital near Keighley (BD20 6TD) on Wednesday 14th Oct at 6PM bookable by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Currently all Registered Midwives in the UK have a Supervisor of Midwives who they see regularly. This system is being removed, and there is some concern that this may result in Midwives being used as obstetric nurses (as seen in most parts of America) weakening Midwives ability to advocate on behalf of women.
The other is the RCM’s planned roadshow to introduce the new public health model. NativityHub has offered to facilitate a presentation day in Leeds for this so will notify when a date is arranged.
These changes do not just affect Midwives and other Birth Workers, they affect everyone.
