Pregnancy:

Leeds Homebirth Support Group can be found on facebook and meets on the second Sunday of each month 10-12 in Headingley. All welcome. Leeds Homebirth Support Group is a peer support group – run by parents for parents – and also runs a Pool Hire Scheme.

Mark Harris’ Birthing for Blokes teaches men about the ancient birthing adaptations in them and their partners. Along with practical training regarding management of these forces, it trains them in patterns of behaviour that will support them through the birth. Supervisors of Midwives. All pregnant women and their families can access a Consultant Midwife or Supervisor of Midwives in their local area to discuss any aspect of their care, preferences and choices and to seek support or debriefing before or after birthing. For information see your local trust website or contact your local delivery suite. There is always a duty SoM available to speak to in the event of a pressing need.

Parenthood

Leeds Dads meets on the third Sunday of each month at The Tetley Arts Centre from 2pm – 4pm and have playtime with crayons and paints, then some games, then a singalong and a story. All dads are welcome, but most of our kids are aged 6/7 and below.

Leeds Birth Workers is a peer to peer support group aiming to work collaboratively by sharing resources, offering each other support and signposting to relevant information, with a particular focus on physiological birth. The group meet in ‘real life’ on the first Saturday of every month at 1pm in the Inkwell in Chapel Allerton, Leeds. All welcome.

NYMPHS (Northern and Yorkshire Midwives Practicing Holistically) is a support group for registered midwives who meet informally on a roughly monthly basis. Please contact Claire directly for details.
